She has won several major awards for her work including BAFTA Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting, Journalist of the Year and Best Television Presenter. Kirsty was born in Dumfries, Scotland. She has published three novels. She says:

“I am so thrilled that Menopause Café grew out of the Menopause and Me documentary and I am delighted to have been asked to be a patron of this new charity which is dedicated to get everyone talking about the menopause. This is the way to a healthier happier future.”

We agree. So here’s to better health and understanding for everybody.

In 1998 Dame Kelly was recognised by the now King Charles, when she was awarded an MBE  for her contributions to the armed forces.

Her illustrious athletic career spanned 12 years, during which she claimed multiple medals at the Commonwealth, European, World, and Olympic levels. The pinnacle came in 2004 at the Athens Olympic Games, where she made history as the first British woman ever to win two gold medals in a single Olympics, triumphing in the 800m and 1500m events. In recognition of her monumental achievements in sport, she was honoured with a Damehood by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2005.

Dame Kelly Holmes—a charity founder, winner of multiple awards as a speaker and a philanthropist, – is a beacon of strength, a champion and voice of change, and a relentless advocate for those striving for greatness.

“I’m honoured to become the new Patron of Menopause Cafe, an organisation that has helped spark and normalise conversations around menopause, including through the Menopause Awareness Ribbon campaign.  When I began experiencing symptoms, my own research helped everything fall into place, but far too many people still face this stage of life feeling isolated and overwhelmed. Having an accessible and inclusive forum and awareness campaign to share experiences, exchange tips, and feel genuinely empowered is invaluable, and I’m proud to support this mission to help others move confidently and positively through their own experience of menopause.”
